Do you find yourself looking in the mirror tapping at that extra flab under your chin? Do you find yourself avoiding selfies from a bottom angle or do you find yourself covering your double chin with scarves and polo necks. Well, we may have come up with a few easy home remedies that does not involve losing weight on the whole, as we all know how tough that can be to get rid of that unflattering flab under your neck.
1. Chew gum
The easiest way to get rid of that double chin is chewing gum. By chewing gum you are constantly exercising those jaw muscles which, with regularity of that motion will reduce the fat in that area. This repetitive motion of the lower jaw helps strengthen the area, revealing that jaw line you were missing.
2. Chin exercises
What do you do when you want to lose weight in a particular area of your body? You exercise that particular area! The same principle applies here. As surprised as you may be, chin exercises do exist and are in fact super effective too. I’ve picked out 3 of the simple chin exercises you can practice at home or at work.
a) Neck rotation
Neck rotations might take you back to those days of drill in school. However, those same neck rotations with slight variation can actually help exercise your chin. For this exercise you simply stand straight and drop your chin down with an attempt to touch your chest. Now slowly tilt your head to the right, hold this position for 5 seconds and come back to the chin drop position. Do the same thing with the left side and repeat this for about 30 seconds.
b) The pigeon move
We all have seen how the pigeon moves its head in a repetitive motion right? Well, this is a similar move. All you need to do is hold your jaw with your thumb on one side and the rest of your fingers on the other. Now try moving forward by imitating the pigeon motion and move only your neck and chin. Remember to hold the jaw still. Hold this position for 30 seconds and come back to the starting position.
c) The kiss the air move
Make sure you’re standing straight. Now stretch your neck, look up towards the ceiling and kiss the air. Hold this pout for about 5 seconds and repeat this exercise for about 10-15 times.
3. Egg whites
Another good home remedy you can give a shot to get rid of that double chin are egg whites. Egg whites are known to have a tightening effect on the skin. To make this pack, mix 1 egg white, 1 teaspoon honey, 1 teaspoon milk and 1 teaspoon lemon juice and add few drops of peppermint oil to this mixture as well. Leave this on your skin for about 15 minutes and wash off. These ingredients aren’t too harsh on your skin so it’s safe to apply this mask daily.
4. Cocoa butter
Cocoa butter is actually known to increase the elasticity of the skin. Take few tablespoons of cocoa butter and heat it in the microwave for 5-10 seconds. Now, massage this onto your chin daily before having a bath. It’s a good way to increase the flow of blood to area which would help reduce the appearance of double chins
5. Green tea bags
We have all heard plenty about the benefits of green tea to our health and various other concerns. Another point to add to the benefits of green tea is reducing the appearance of the double chin. Green tea increases skin elasticity just like cocoa butter. This helps protect your skin from aging which leads to that sagging skin under your chin. To prevent this apply the brewed green tea bags onto your skin and leave it for about 15 minutes.
6. Vitamin E oil
Vitamin E helps with the regeneration of new skin cells and tightening them. Hence, prick a few capsules of vitamin E and massage it onto your skin evenly for about 15 minutes. You should notice a reduction in the appearance of double chin.
7. Glycerin and epsom salt
Mix 1 teaspoon of glycerin with half teaspoon of epsom salt and apply this pack to the skin. You may feel slight tingling but that is normal. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes and wash off with ice-cold water. Do this for a couple of days regularly till you notice some reduction in the extra flab.
