The sun makes it very difficult to maintain good, tan free skin these days. It becomes essential to take steps to prevent tanning and damage. Here are some simple home remedies to make your skin glow and be tan free this summer.

1. Fruit Masks

Fruits such as banana, apple, and orange can be mixed together, and its pulp can be applied on the skin. Keep it on for 20-30 minutes and rinse with clean water. Banana tightens your skin, apple contains toning agents that help tone your skin and orange, being rich in vitamin C, helps maintain the acid-alkaline balance of your skin cells.

Papaya pulp can be applied on the skin as a mask, and washed off after 20-30 minutes. The fruit contains enzymes that help remove dead skin cells, thus making your skin fresh and dirt-free. Add curd and lemon juice to papaya pulp in order to remove tan.

2. Buttermilk and Oatmeal pack

Add three tablespoons of buttermilk to two tablespoons of oatmeal and make a paste. Apply this paste to the affected areas of your skin for a few minutes in circular motion and then rinse. The buttermilk heals your skin and soothes blisters while oats acts as a natural exfoliator, which helps reveal younger looking skin. Use this scrub twice a week.

3. Aloe Vera coupled with Watermelon toner

Applying fresh Aloe Vera gel to the skin helps soothe and heal sunburns. Aloe Vera contains zinc, which is anti-inflammatory and prevents acne. Watermelon juice can be used as a toner. It relieves summer dryness, and helps your skin to refresh and soften. Watermelon also has hydrating properties which prevent your skin moisture from evaporating.

4. Coconut Water and Sandalwood pack

Add one tablespoon of coconut water to one tablespoon of sandalwood powder. Add more coconut water, if required, to get a paste of even consistency. You can also add a few drops of almond extract to this pack. Apply this mixture on the face and neck and leave it to dry. Rinse with fresh water.

Sandalwood is loaded with medicinal properties. When combined with the goodness of coconut water, it makes a cheap yet effective tan remover. Together, they will not only rejuvenate and cleanse your skin, but also soothe your sunburns and remove tan naturally. Hence, this is one of the best home remedies for removing tan.

5. Honey and Pineapple

Add one tablespoon of honey to two tablespoons of pineapple pulp. Mix and ensure that there are no lumps. Apply this pack on your skin and leave it on for fifteen to twenty minutes. This pack is most effective when used every alternate day.

Also known as the king of tropical fruits, the pineapple is loved for its tangy yet fresh flavor. Its extract contains bromelain that can help remove the dead cells from heavily tanned areas. Also loaded with vitamin C, pineapple extract helps reduce aging of skin. When mixed with honey, the efficacy of this fruit is quadrupled.
