Have a child now? Doesn’t matter. Your mom will still care for you the way she always has. From the day you were born, until now, she has always been the one person totally invested in your happiness. You were her life from the day you were born, and even though you may be far away from where she is now, the love hasn’t faded a bit. She still worries just as much, and even more so, as you are now taking care of something more important and probably not giving yourself much attention in the process. Here are 6 things she does, which prove that a mother’s love never fades.
1. Helps with the baby
She doesn’t wait until you ask her for help with the baby. She understands that you’re too focused on how to be a good mother and and are worried that you may not be doing a good job of it. You may be too occupied with feeding the baby, changing the baby and comforting your crying baby. In the midst of this, you may not find the time to ask your mother for help. So, without being asked, she’s already doing what needs to be done at that moment, not waiting for a request from her overwhelmed daughter.
2. Always takes care of your needs
She’s constantly instructing you about what you need to eat and what you don’t, as your baby is your responsibility, but you are hers. Nutrition is just as important as sufficient rest, especially when you’re a new mum and that takes care of itself. When you have her around to look after the child, it is convenient as you can take your much-needed afternoon nap.
3. She’s the perfect friend
She looks after you and the baby when the husband isn’t around. Also, she’s there to share the house chores with or to just talk to. She’ll even tell you some stories about you as a little girl that will guarantee amusement and embarrassment. This is the best time to reconnect with her and strengthen the mother-daughter bond at a deeper level, which will definitely help when talking to your kid years later.
4. She’s there for emotional support
She’s probably the one who understands you the best, having seen you grow up with all your quirks. So even though you’ve become a mother yourself, you’re still her baby daughter. This might sound like a cliche, but it’s true. She understands when you need your space and time, handling you perfectly with patience and care. These are things even your hubby cannot do right.
5. She’s the perfect mentor
She’s your personal support group of new mums, and even more so because she’s been through all that you’re facing now years ago. Having your mother around is a boon not every new mum has. Having that sense of relief where you can rely on someone with experience to take proper care of your baby is a luxury. Men are often advised to “imagine being pregnant’ to get a hint of what their wives are going through, but with your mum, no imagination is necessary. She’s been there and done that.
6. Reassures you of your beauty
She gets that you’ll be more critical of yourself, scrutinising yourself in the mirror more often and seeing the physical changes you’ve gone through. Those changes aren’t subtle and they’ll be more magnified in your eyes, but she’ll be there for you, reassuring you that you’re still the most beautiful woman in the world. Even if you tell her that you don’t look as good as you used to, she’ll make you believe otherwise.
