Not all mothers are gifted with an adequate amount of breast milk. This might raise a few questions in mothers with this problem. Other than consulting your doctor, you can add certain foods to your diet in order to enhance your flow of breast milk.

1. Salmon

Salmon is known to have a rich content of BFA and omega-3 nutrients that help in increasing breast milk immensely. Add this in your regular diet, whether it is grilled, steamed or boiled.

2. Sweet Potato

Sweet potatoes have carbohydrates, vitamin C, B-complex and potassium, which help improve the quality and quantity of your breast milk, giving you and your baby the needed nutrients in the process.

3. Almonds

Almond contains omega 3 and vitamin E oil, both of which are enhancing elements in breast milk. Crushed almonds with a warm glass of milk or oatmeal only makes for a better meal.

4. Cow milk

The calcium and EFA content in cow milk undoubtedly boost the quantity and quality of your breast milk. It also helps prevent future allergies towards cow milk in your baby.

5. Brown Rice

Brown Rice is known to stimulate hormones in your body, thereby enhancing the flow of breast milk. Soak and steam your rice in the pressure cooker, and eat it along with fresh vegetables for best results.

6. Garlic

Adding garlic fried in ghee to your food every alternate day can help boost your lactation profusely. Add this with steamed rice or any other meal. Garlic is an age old remedy known to increase the flow of breast milk.

7. Basil leaves

Consuming basil leaves helps in good lactation while also boosting your child’s immunity system. The leaf is also known to have calming effects.

8. Carrots

Carrots are rich in vitamin A, which helps improve the quality of your breast milk while boosting lactation.

9. Oatmeal

The fibre content in oatmeal enhances your breast milk to give your baby better quality milk.

10. Spinach leaves

Spinach is known for being extremely nutritious, and adding this to your diet can increase the flow in your breast milk. Some mothers are unable to lactate due to the side effects of being anaemic, Spinach not only recovers the lost iron, calcium and folic acid, but also ensures that your body is detoxified.
