Planning for a day out at the beach with your kids? Here are a few tips to keep in handy to make sure your kid has fun on the beach without it being too much of a hassle for you.
Sunscreen is a must
Lather up your kid’s skin with sunscreen before you leave home. If you’re planning to spend the entire day at the beach then bring some sunscreen along with you to reapply every few hours. Use it on all the parts of your kid’s body that will be exposed to the sun like his face, neck, arms and legs. Bringing umbrellas and hats will also provide extra protection.
Blankets and Towels
You can use a blanket for your kid to sit on after taking a dip or when they want to relax in between having fun and not get sand all over them. Your kid will get wet even if they don’t swim in the waves, so to deal with the wet sopping mess, towels are your only solution.
Keep a dust broom in the car
If you’re travelling by a car, you know that it is never the same after a visit to the beach. A dust broom will help you get rid of all the sand that will inevitably get in your car.
Bring bags and covers
Bring at least two bags – a wet bag to hold all of your child’s wet clothes and towels and a dry one to keep all the toys, hats, sunscreen, snacks etc. Make sure the wet bag is made out of plastic so that it doesn’t absorb all the water from its contents.
Bring water and snacks
You want your little one to be hydrated, especially when he’s running around in the sun. Take a break every 45 minutes or an hour and have your kid drink some water. You might be tempted to buy the things available at the beach, but it is always better to pack your own snacks so that you don’t run the risk of your kid falling ill.
