Things may not always be the way you expected them to be when you got married. Kids, work, stress and so on.. – There isn’t a couple in this world who haven’t faced these challenges in their married life. But what keeps your marriage together is intimacy, not just sexual but also emotional. Without it, your marriage might as well just be a legal contract.
Here are 7 such common intimacy issues in a marriage.
1. Rarely in the mood
When your life becomes a series of eat-sleep-work-repeat, it’s hard to take some time to get intimate with your partner. Even if you do get some time for yourself, you might prefer to just sit back and relax rather than try getting in the mood.
2. Fading attraction
The man you’re going to spend the rest of your life with may not seem as attractive as he did when you guys got together the first time. It is not uncommon for you to not feel the sparks flying when you’re with each other. Being attractive or being attracted to someone takes some effort from your side too. Dress up for your partner, go out on dates and spend some quality time together.
It is important to note that not being attracted to your partner doesn’t mean you don’t love him anymore.
Marriage is an institution built on trust and faith. Not just physical infidelity but emotional infidelity also has a role in getting in the way of things. If you even have a fear that your partner may be unfaithful, then talk to him about it. Building up resentment in your mind will only worsen things.
4. No foreplay
Things might not be exciting and fresh as they used to be. Maybe you’re not being showered with flowers, gifts or compliments from your partner. It might be because you’ve known each other long enough to be comfortable without any pretenses. But lack of foreplay will only create a feeling of disinterest which will be translated to the bedroom.
5. We’re parents now
Once you have kids, you’ll realize that you have less and less time to spend just with your husband. Taking care of children eats up a lot of your energy and time, leaving you exhausted by the time you hit the bed.
You can rectify this by planning a date night one day of the week and make sure nothing can make you stray away from the plan. Hire a nanny or you can even leave your kids in the care of their grandparents when you’re taking a day off.
6. Lack of communication
Lack of communication and even miscommunication are some of the biggest things that can drive a wedge between you and your husband. Give a voice to your desires and fantasies. Share with your husband everything that’s bothering you. He might be an understanding husband but he would have to be a super-genius to figure out every little thought of yours.
7. Awkward sex
You might not share those perfect intimate moments that you often come across in movies and television. Sex can be messy, awkward and uncomfortable in real life. But don’t let this discourage you from trying again. It might take some time to understand your partner’s likes and dislikes and once you do you’ll be able to make way for awkward-free amazing sex.
