There are things that every person wants to do before they die – a sort of a bucket list. Now, while we know that that sort of a thing can’t be real during a pregnancy, we do have a list of To-Dos that women are advised to do before they deliver – a pregnancy to-do list!

We have managed to compile a list of recommended things moms should do before they deliver. Here it is –

1. Schedule your appointments and scans in advance

Your pregnancy check-ups and scans are very important in order to ensure that you and your baby are on the right track. You and your doctor can help come up with a schedule to determine when you can have your antenatal appointments and your ultrasound scans. Also be proactive and find out exactly what happens during these appointments and scans!

2. Eat Right!

With all the hullabaloo about pregnancy cravings, not enough importance is giving to eating healthy and eating right. Having a balanced diet will make sure you get your nutrients in time and the baby gets all its food. Focus on starchy carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables, protein, milk and dairy foods, and go light on fats and sugars.

Contrary to belief, you don’t actually need to consume a lot of extra food in the beginning of your pregnancy. Towards the fifth month, you might need to start taking 200 extra calories.

3. Lots of water

Staying well-hydrated is vital. Eight to ten glasses of liquids are ideal during pregnancy. Take regular sips and if you like water with flavour, then add lemon or a little juice to your water.

4. Know the warning signs

Know what signs to look out for and what signs to never ignore. Also go by your gut feeling – it is usually right. Keep your doctor in the loop, always.

5. Quit smoking

If you smoke, this is the time to give it up. Fully. Smoking risks your chances of having a normal weight. You are also at a higher risk of miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy.

6. Move around and exercise

Being pregnant is physically and mentally demanding. Your body needs to cope with the pressure of being active and flexible, so you might have to start managing your weight and exercise.

7. Be aware of your finances

Of course, having a baby is going to cost a significant amount of money. Make a list of the items you might need for your baby. See if you can borrow things from your friends and family, or things you can buy second-hand. Or online, if that’s your things.

8. Treat yourself

Indulge in your wants and treat yourself to all the beauty treatments you’ve wanted! Go for a pedicure when you’re too big to do your own nails. Be nice to yourself. You’ve earned it!

9. Follow your baby’s development
